Alex Trebek's Widow Drops A Bombshell About His Final Days

What would you do if you knew your time on Earth was running out? Everyone answers this question differently, though, for Alex Trebek, the answer was clear. Despite his transparency throughout his fight with pancreatic cancer, the longtime Jeopardy! host was uncharacteristically quiet as he neared the end of his battle. Now, in the wake of Alex's tragic passing, his wife Jean has summoned the courage to come forward and reveal what really went on during the beloved broadcaster's final days.

Shocking news

It was in 2019 that the whole country was left speechless over Alex's heartbreaking announcement. He opened with his usual calming and upbeat tone as he spoke: "I have some news to share with all of you and it's in keeping with my longtime policy of being open and transparent with our Jeopardy! fanbase."

Determined to fight

"Just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year," he continued, "this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer...with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease." Sadly, this wasn't to be.

Living with cancer

Following Alex's tragic passing on November 8, 2020, his wife Jean shared with reporters how the beloved gameshow host was still living life to the fullest, even with all the struggles that came with pancreatic cancer. One thing was certainly clear; Alex was adamant about continuing his work on Jeopardy!, though it caused him great pain.

Sharing his struggles

Alex made no attempts to hide what he was going through, as he was always one for sharing knowledge and knew that his experience was important for others to hear. He revealed that early on in his treatment, he'd suffer from horrible stomach cramps that wouldn't wait for the cameras to turn off. Yet even while he was on air, Alex remained as composed as ever.
