20 Bizarre Celeb Beauty Hacks That Really Do Work – And They Won’t Cost You A Bomb Either

Celebrities have done some pretty weird things in the pursuit of beauty. Just ask Gwyneth Paltrow, who believes in a bee-stinging treatment called apitherapy. Or take a look at Kim Kardashian, who had the world raising eyebrows when she tried a “vampire facial.” However, there are plenty of celebrity beauty hacks that seem a little odd but do actually work. And they’re so cheap and easy you can try them at home too.

20. Catherine Zeta Jones – Washing hair with beer

Turns out beer has more uses than just the obvious one. Actress Catherine Zeta Jones, who was named the most beautiful British woman by QVC in 2011, uses it on her luscious hair. She mixes beer with honey to make a shampoo. “I smell like the bottom of a beer barrel for days afterwards,” she told OK! in 2011. Even that probably wouldn’t dampen her sex appeal though.

19. Blake Lively – Mayonnaise on hair

Blake Lively’s got some fantastic hair. And she got it by using something decidedly unusual: a popular condiment. “My mom taught me this really great beauty tip. She used to put oil or mayonnaise on the bottom half of her hair before she would shower,” the actress told Byrdie in 2014. “That way, when she would shampoo, the soap wouldn't strip the bottom of the hair and dry it out, making it brittle.” It certainly seems to have worked.

18. Miranda Kerr – Makeshift eyelash curlers

What do you do if you’re a supermodel, and you’ve forgotten your eyelash curlers? Miranda Kerr has the answer. She uses a simple spoon and, she told Lucky magazine in 2014, “a flick of the wrist similar to what a florist would employ when using a pair of scissors to twirl a bit of ribbon.” If you heat the spoon with hot water first, that’s even better.

17. Audrey Hepburn – Separating eyelashes with a pin

The actresses of Old Hollywood had many cunning beauty tips. Audrey Hepburn, who is still to this day considered one of the most beautiful women to have ever lived, did a slightly dangerous trick to make her eyelashes stand out. She had her makeup artist separate each individual lash with a pin! But this technique could work for the modern woman as well… if you use something less pointy than a pin.
